It’s “Dine and Discover Queens” time! “Dine and Discover Queens” is a monthly spotlight on some of the best restaurants around the borough! This month’s featured eatery is Nur Thai, a great option with two locations, one at 62-32 Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park and the other at 31-01 34th Avenue in Astoria. Sazzad Hossain is the Director of Operations and Owner of the establishment. To learn more, go to https://www.nurthai.com/.

What inspired the creation of your restaurant, and how did you get your start?
The creation of Nur Thai was inspired by my deep love for Thai cuisine and a desire to share the authentic flavors and traditions of Thailand with the diverse community of Queens. We wanted to create a space where people could experience the vibrant and aromatic dishes of Thailand. Our goal was to bring a taste of that country to Queens and share traditional dishes with a modern twist, which led us to open our two locations.
Can you share any memorable moments or experiences you’ve had as a restaurant owner in Queens?
One of the most memorable moments was during our first community event, where we served hundreds of people and received overwhelming support and positive feedback from the community. It was a humbling experience that solidified our place in Queens. We also were so happy to receive the honor of being voted the “Best Halal Restaurant” in the borough in the inaugural “Best Halal” competition held by the Queens Chamber of Commerce earlier this year.
What makes your restaurant unique?
What makes Nur Thai unique is our dedication to authenticity while still being innovative. We use fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, but we’re not afraid to experiment with new flavors and presentations. We invite everyone to come try us out when they are in the area!
