Casa del Chef is a family-owned New American restaurant in Woodside. Having grown up in a sugar cane farm back in his native country of Ecuador, Alfonso Zhicay learned the tricks of the trade from a young age. He decided to put his skills to the test when he came to New York City and interned at Union Pacific NYC and Bouley Bakery. After long struggle, he opened his own restaurant, Casa del Chef, where you can enjoy the thoughtful Ecuadorean farm-to-table heritage that Alfonso has translated into an American palate.

In line with tradition and his training, his ingredients speak for themselves — they are freshly acquired from the Jackson Heights Greenmarket and coaxed into giving up their delicate flavors in a curated collection.

Mr. Zhicay works in the kitchen with his brother, Florencio, and his daughter, Sandra, welcomes guests.

The entire menu will be available but to take advantage of the Restaurant Week deal for $20.21, go with their tender braised lamb shanks with winter vegetables ragú, complemented with creamy mango panna cotta.
